Welcome
Who we are
Dunottar Choral Society is a friendly group of people who meet each week to enjoy singing together.
The choir is made up of people from a wide local area and we meet weekly in the Ballroom of Dunottar School. There are regularly between 30 and 40 members and we sing an ecelectic mix of works ranging from the traditional classical choral works to modern arrangements of songs from musicals and folk ballads.
We perform at least 2 concerts, one in late November and also at the end of June. We also participate in the School's Carol Service and have recently begun performing at the Reigate Summer Music Festival in June.
Our rehearsals are on Thursdays at 7.15pm from September until the beginning of July. For more information about joining click here.
Our History
It was in September 1993, that Terry Lamont, then Head of Music at Dunottar School, was persuaded by a group of Year 11 girls to create a choir which combined pupils and their parents. So, letters were sent out with the school newsletter, a large crowd assembled in the dining hall and the Dunottar Choral Society was born!
Following Carols at Christmas, our first concert was Vivaldi’s Gloria sung in St. Matthew’s Church, Redhill in March 1994. The choir went from strength to strength performing major choral works with guest soloists, Evensong, Christmas Carols and Soirées.
As the Choral Society has developed, it has broadened its horizons as well as its repertoire and its membership no longer requires any personal connection to the school, just a love of singing!
